Why are most TV shows so obsessed about sex? Check out most of them — a reality show about romance-measured-by-how-good-the-sex-was, a gossipy girl wanting to have sex, a guy who wants to have sex, a husband or wife complaining about not having enough sex, a teenager trying to identify his sexuality so that he or she can have sex, sexsexsexsexsex…
I sought out Big Bang Theory because I was under the assumption that it was above focusing on the basest of human desires, but while the bountiful amount of references particular to the geek subculture is amusing, the main focus of each character remains to be 85% procreation, 10% Sheldon-and-his-initially-mildly-amusing-but-now-extremely-arrogant-and-irritatingly-ILLOGICAL-antics, and 5% various side-stories.
I don’t understand. Why is television so rampant with episodes wherein Kardhasians demonstrate how to clumsily wax off pubic hair while posing provocatively in skimpy attire before a camera? What is up with the senseless glorification of sweaty clubbing and emotionally taxing one night stands?
This is ridiculous. I’m going back to my cartoons.
